2 through the ice, January 17th
2 sleds went through the ice out in front of Stevensons point last night (Jan 17th) 3 feet of water no injuries ( thank God) Unless you are 100% sure dont go, yes this is a bad area but any area can be bad, this was only a small cold snap, certainly not enough to lock up the whole lake. Scugog Fire officials and the Port Perry Snowmobile Club are urging everyone to stay off the ice till it is staked and deemed safe !

I was getting gas at the Pioneer Station, Simcoe & 7A just after 5 last night. An ambulance and fire truck went by as I was paying. I said to the attendent, I hope their not going to the Island and the attendent said someone probably went thru the ice. Unfortunately that was a good guess. For those that do not know, Stevenson Point is on the west side of the Island right near Goreski's Marina. To get from Port to the top of the Island you have to go right past this spot unless you run further from shore and I don't think that's a good idea. That area is a little deeper than most of the lake further from shore. If you dare, make sure you hug the shoreline.
