E-108 Port to Ganaraska Headed out for a run this morning at 9am from Port to the clubhouse and then east to Noone's, for the requisite coffee of course :D , and then east to the Ganny, meeting up with a buddy about half way.
Overall, the trails were excellent, with about 50% having been groomed. Ran into two groomers in the Ganny and conditions there were the best I've seen in a while. Watch out for a couple of open water areas on the trail from Port to the clubhouse, just about at the point where the trail is closest to Simcoe south of town. One large hole in particular will catch you by suyrprise if your not paying attention, but thankfully it's not very deep....
At 9 am there were already some major drifting where E-108 heads east from the clubhouse. By the time I came back across there on my way home at 4pm, the drifts were 4 feet deep in spots. Keeping to the south side of the trail is your best bet, although there's one point where a even that didn't stop me getting nicely stuck. Luckily, I got stuck with only about 25 feet to trail and after a leisurely 20 minute dig, I was out !
Hopefully the groomers go by and this won't be a problem.
Safe riding !

Good to hear the Ganny is holding up. Sat. it was good, and excellent in spots, but you could tell it was getting soft. This bit of snow, drifting and cold should help keep it good for this week at least.

The groomers were heading out today as usual and will make quick work of those drifts! The waterhole behind the "pumphouses" is an annual battle and having the canals to run this year helped. Unfortunately they opened up in the warm weather last week and had to be closed for safety reasons!
