Great turn out for Yamafest ! Easy event to plan with such a great bunch of riding buddys that suport events like this
Thanks to all of you for coming out and putting up with low low low snow conditions. Yamaha couldn't be happier with the turn out. Last season at Deerhurst on a good condition, good snow weekend (Sat, Sun) with a big charity event at the same time, they ran 70 to 80 riders through out the day each day. Todays one day event with low snow, rough trails, and no other "draw event" saw 86 riders ride 2 different machines each (some more than 2) for a 15 mile rounder. It's stuff like this that make being club volunteer so rewarding ....... again thanks to all of you's that were able to make it out.
Here's some pic's from today !

Also I'd like to thank Kevchev,REVTECHss,CustomRX1,TVBrian and GTXer for giving a hand today by running sweep for a few of the rides and giving the Yami crew a much needed break. Also a big thanks to Floyd from Asselstien Country Yamaha and Kevin from DTPower Sports for bringing out some of their demos to add to the -*test*-('") fleet and giving a hand to the Yamaha Canada folks.
And we certainly cannot forget to thank Rosemarie and her kitchen crew for serving up a fantastic breakfast, sponsored by the great folks at Yamaha.
Oh ya and smore pic's

had a great time, good breakfast too...that Apex was a really nice machine. If I had 13gs laying around...

i got the chance to ride 4 sleds that day.... my opinions
RS Vector: Hated it, but this was only because it didn't fit my riding style at all. I'm sure it would be a nice sled of someone!!!
Venture Lite: Comfy sled, loved the way it handled.... needed more power, lots of noise (both belt, clutch & engine)
Phazer: A very fun sled to play around on... would love to try a mountian version in the deep..... I would consider this sled if it had 120-140 hp.... 80 just wasn't enough to put the WOW factor into me...... Had the same noises as the Venture lite.
Apex: Loved the power, found the sled tippy and that would take some getting used too.
All and all, for the day my fav would have been the Phazer or Venture Lite. But neither will be pulling me away from my CF anytime soon!!
Thanks again to Nutter and everyone for putting on such a great event. One thing i noticed through the day was everyone was having a great time. I know for myself (and i could see it in other club volunteers) that made me feel really great to be involved with this sport and in particular the Port Perry Snowmobile Club. The club (and memebers) have done nothing but be open and accepting to me and my ideas, since November 2005 when i showed up at a meeting. I have made some great friends and had some great times with all these members and look forward to many many more years with this club!!!
Thanks to Yamaha for bringing out some new iron for us to play around on!!! You guys (and gal) Rock!!!

The Phazer wasn't all that appealing to me, I think I'm just to big a guy for something so small, I kept thinking I'm going break it. But I do think it will defiantly make a great entry level cottage run about sled.
I couldn't believe how much I liked the RS Venture rode it out to Burkton and didn't even realize it had a 144 underneath it, felt and handled like a shorty. The ride was plush but still responsive and the seat was heaven. Rider ergos again just as good if not better than the Attack, I think they should also have a 150hp option along with the 120hp, but even with the 120 hp ............. If I had the coin to park one in the stable just for those long saddlebaggers I certainly would buy one in a heart beat.
The RS Rage was also a fun sled again great with the rider ergos, but for a semi ditch banger I felt the 120 hp was a little on the tame side for me, but I'm sure some clutching and intake trickery matched with slight exhaust fiddling this sled could really wake up.
For me it was the Attack that sled was awesome, power out the wazoooo and a 136 track to transfer it into fun. Despite it's weight it felt nimble and easy to handle for me ........ point and pull the trigger it went where I told it to go. Rider ergos were spot on for me cept for the need of a little more rise in the bars, I had issues with the hand and thumb warmer controls (to much adjustment) but in time I'm sure I'd get used to it. Seat height and firmness was perfect and foot wells matched great with my seating positions. The Attack has me thinking!

Got a kick out of the cute little sledder in the orange suit and white and red helmet :D The RS Venture reminded me of my many years riding my old Grand Touring except the Yami had more pull anywhere in the power band.

Yep, must admit, my daughter comes by it honestly. I can't even sneak out of the house anymore, as soon as she hears the sled start, she is at the door, begging for a ride. Gotta love her "sled ed" helmet !! She really wanted to go for a ride on the yammies, and was quite upset that she couldn't.
