Permit required for my young lad?
Nutter, just curious, is it ok for my young lad to ride his Kitty Cat on some local trails? We certainly wouldn't be venturing to far from the club, just part way to Burketon and back or less depending on him? He is 6 and can ride real well for his age. What is all required for him to follow me or me to follow him? Thanks.......Irv

. I've all ready replied to Irv via pm, but here's some info on the subject for others that may be asking the same question. From the OFSC website Driving Requirements for Snowmobilers Drivers 16 and Over: Residents: Drivers 16 and over may operate a snowmobile on trails and highways where legally permitted. They must hold a valid Ontario driver's licence, including a G1, G2, M1,or M2 , or a Snow Vehicle Operator's Licence. Any one who has lost their Ontario Driver's licence for whatever reason cannot operate a snowmobile on trails or on highways where legally permitted. Non-Residents: To drive a snowmobile in Ontario, the residents of another province, state or country must have in their possession a valid driver's license, issued by the particular jurisdiction, which allows them to operate a MSV. Driver's 16 and Under If you are between the age of 12 and 15 and hold a Snow Vehicle Operator's Licence, you may operate a snowmobile on OFSC prescribed trails, however, it is illegal for a person under 16 to drive on or drive across any road. If you require additional information please check out www.e-laws.gov.on.ca under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.

Beyond the legalities!
Irv, Beyond the legalities I'd be very concerned about having a youngster riding a Kitty Kat at 5 mph on a trail with sleds going 50 kmh or more. I'd love to see the little guy having fun but I'd restrict operations to the clubhouse grounds and keep him off the roads and trails!

Just to add to this post, I believe that if you check the S.T.O.P. website which is on the links page under district 3 mini sleds are not legally allowed on any OFSC trail.
